The Path Of The Outcast promises so much, having taken so long to arrive. Everything is set up and repeated in the first two novels of Gav Thorpe’s The Path Of The Eldar omnibus that the weight of expectation you create onto The Path Of The Outcast, the demands you place on it to give you the story you want, to tell you how everything finally ends, is almost too much to ask. There are three short stories that accompany the main Path Of The Eldar trilogy – The Curse Of Shaa-Dom, The Reward Of Tolerance and Dark Son. And they mainly follow a pattern of taking some of the lesser characters or supporting events from the main trilogy and attempting to expand they out briefly to give us a new insight.
